EconMind is a student-led, nonprofit platform for learning and experimentation centered on economics. It connects classroom economics with real-world problems, simulations, and practical decision-making. We want students to move beyond understanding models and theories to apply, test, and evaluate these tools in real-world or highly realistic simulated settings, developing an understanding of how policies, markets, and individual decisions interact.
EconMind currently has more than 200 registered users across over 70 schools in China and abroad, and has established connections with more than 40 student economics clubs. The platform is currently focused on developing EconMind League. Through cross-school teams and shared economic simulation environments, participants engage in policymaking, market competition, trade, and real-time decision-making. These dynamic strategic interactions allow them to experience the effects of macroeconomic policies, market mechanisms, and strategic choices, with realistic feedback on their decisions.
EconMind’s core academic team includes an NEC global champion and IEO national team members who help lead academic content development and curriculum design. Members from the University of Cambridge, UCLA, UCL, Duke University, UIUC, UCSD, and Peking University also serve as supervisors, providing support for economics content, model design, research projects, and hands-on student activities. We are also working closely with CNEC to advance a long-term collaboration encompassing economics teaching resources, student development, competitions and practical projects, platform content, and cross-school economics communities.
Ultimately, EconMind aims to build more than an economics learning website: we want to create a network for hands-on economics and experimentation that connects schools, clubs, and students. Here, economics is not just a body of classroom knowledge, but a tool to be applied, tested, discussed, and continually improved.
